Are you looking for the best luxury hotels in Copenhagen which tick all your boxes? I can assure you that you’ve come to the right place!
I adore visiting Copenhagen and experiencing the Danish culture first-hand, but staying in a luxury establishment always transforms my trips.
I often do a lot of walking in this city, hopping from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, and having a relaxing hotel to come back to makes all the difference.
Whether you want to find the best spa hotel in Copenhagen or are more interested in the dining and drinking options on offer, I have no doubt that my guide to the top luxury hotels in the Danish capital will soon have you sorted.
I’ve combined my personal hotel experiences in the city, along with some recommendations from fellow travellers, to bring you this handpicked list.
From a boutique inner city bolthole to a hotel in a hip local neighbourhood, I consider these to be the best deluxe properties in Copenhagen. Which will you choose – a former warehouse by the harbour, a fairytale palace or a glimmering skyscraper?
1. Nimb Hotel
Address: Bernstorffsgade 5, 1577 København
Best for: Living the fairytale
This five star hotel in Copenhagen is located within the iconic Tivoli Gardens. Step inside the glittering facade that’s like something straight from a fairytale, and enter another universe.
I consider a stay at Nimb Hotel to be what bucket-list dreams are made of. Twinkling chandeliers ensure that this place glows from the inside as much as out.
Yet it’s all very tastefully presented, just as I’m sure you’d expect from a Scandinavian property.
There are under 40 bedrooms, giving this hotel a more intimate feel, and the vast majority overlook the Tivoli Gardens.
The property offers a gym, sauna, pool, restaurant and bar, and accommodation comes with deluxe amenities like Nespresso machines and Bang and Olufsen TVs.
To give you an idea of this hotel’s renowned reputation, an episode of BBC Two’s Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby (my favourite TV travel show!) was dedicated to the Nimb Hotel.

2. NH Collection Copenhagen
Address: Strandgade 7, 1401 København
Best for: A harbour location
If you want to find five star hotels in Copenhagen located right by the water, then I’d recommend taking a look at the NH Collection.
The 1950s modernist structure is close to city centre attractions, such as the Danish Royal Library, the opera and of course Copenhagen Harbour. There’s also a metro station within a few minutes’ walk.
Accommodation is sleek, contemporary and polished and comes with facilities such as iPod docks, flatscreen TVs and Nespresso machines.
There’s a range of rooms and suites here sleeping between one and four guests, which I think makes it ideal for both solo travellers and small families.
NH Collection Copenhagen also boasts a well-equipped gym, a yoga room, a couple of restaurants and a bar.
3. Hotel Sanders
Address: Tordenskjoldsgade 15, 1055 København
Best for: Stylish outdoor spaces
In my opinion, Hotel Sanders is one of the finest boutique hotels in Copenhagen.
Its impressive amenities include a restaurant with an emphasis on fresh produce and healthy cooking, plus a cocktail bar for pre and post dinner drinks – so foodies like me, I know you’re going to want to take note of this one!
There is also a rooftop garden with a conservatory and a pleasant inner courtyard.
The hotel offers single and double rooms as well as some family-sized suites. All air-conditioned accommodation comes with a free minibar, kimonos and slippers, and luxury toiletries.
Hotel Sanders is a modern five star property with a slick, polished finish and a great position just five minutes’ walk from a metro station.
Book here for free room upgrades and late checkouts where available.
4. Radisson Collection Royal Hotel
Address: Hammerichsgade 1, 1611 København
Best for: Unparalleled city views
The Radisson Collection Royal Hotel towers above the buildings surrounding it. I think it’s a real stand-out property in terms of facilities and finish.
Arne Jacobsen is the big-name architect behind the sleek, modern structure. Both the Tivoli Gardens and the main train station are within a five minute walk of this property.
This places it among the best places to stay in Copenhagen when you want to explore beyond the city or plan to arrive by train.
The building was the first skyscraper in Copenhagen and has a slick, city feel that reflects this. Many rooms offer stunning views, too, due to the elevation.
The large, modern fitness centre here offers a steam sauna in addition to gym equipment. Personal training or massage treatments can also be booked on site (I’ll be going for the latter!).
5. Hotel Skt. Petri
Address: Krystalgade 22, 1172 København
Best for: Visiting historic attractions
This is without doubt one of the best hotels in Copenhagen for fans of all things historical. Rosenborg Slot, a 17th century castle, is close by, as is the city’s Latin Quarter.
Relaxed luxury is the name of the game here, which I love. With close to 300 rooms, there’s plenty of choice when it comes to accommodation.
Rooms are ultra contemporary and run from Courtyard and City Kings to Petri Queens or a top-of-the-range Skyline King with balcony.
I think Hotel Skt. Petri is in a superb location with shops, cafes and restaurants nearby. The property also has a bar and restaurant in the lobby plus a guest gym.
6. Hotel d’Angleterre
Address: Kongens Nytorv 34, 1050 København
Best for: Modern Grand Dame
Hotel d’Angleterre is situated close to the vibrant Nyhavn district and overlooks Kongens Nytorv square.
This is an ideal location as I’m sure that a trip to the colourful Nyhavn is on the cards for anyone visiting the city (as it should be!).
This property boasts some superlative amenities, including a restaurant, champagne bar, swimming pool and spa.
Dating back to 1755, Hotel d’Angleterre is one of the city’s grand dames, but has been brought bang up-to-date thanks to a 21st century style overhaul.
Now there’s a range of plush accommodation with marble bathrooms. Top-level suites here come with extra living space or city view balconies.
7. Nobis Hotel Copenhagen
Address: Niels Brocks Gade 1, 1574 København
Best for: Art and music fans
Situated close to the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek art museum, I think Nobis Hotel is one of the best boutique hotels in Copenhagen, plus it’s ideally located.
The building was once home to a music academy. It’s now an elegant, designer-style property (believe me, the interiors are impeccable) with an imposing exterior and a range of modern, archetypally Scandinavian rooms.
All guests staying here can access the wellness zone for free. This spa area offers a gym, hammam, sauna and cold plunge pool.
On-site Restaurant NOI is also the ideal place to sample authentic Scandinavian cuisine made from fresh and locally sourced produce.

8. Manon les Suites
Address: Gyldenløvesgade 19, 1600 København
Best for: Laid-back lakeside living
If you love the luxury of having additional space at your disposal then I know you’ll love Manon. This all-suite hotel has 87 rooms, and these are becomingly set around a central pool area.
While not quite in the heart of town, Manon les Suites makes up for this by offering a peaceful position close to the lakes popular with local walkers and runners. The city centre is around 15 minutes away on foot.
All sorts of global influences are evident in the decor, and the design of the central pool area is certainly incredibly Instagram friendly. I’m sure you’ve probably seen it on your feed if you’ve been searching for Copenhagen hotels!
The property also offers a sauna, gym, steam room and a pretty roof terrace – I’m not sure what more you could want?
9. Andersen Hotel
Address: Helgolandsgade 12, 1653 København
Best for: A sociable stay
If you’re seeking sociable Copenhagen hotels, then I’d recommend checking out the Andersen.
With a complimentary daily wine reception offered to guests, it’s a great place to get a solo, couples’ or family trip off to a good start.
This four star property strives to offer a laid-back atmosphere, a stylish design and a welcoming hygge feel.
Bland it is not: I love that pops of rich jewel hues liven up the rooms as well as the shared spaces within.
Andersen Hotel offers a range of rooms and suites, some of which are suitable for solo travellers or families.
There’s also a bar and gym, and the lively Kødbyen district is only five minutes away on foot.
10. citizenM Copenhagen Rådhuspladsen
Address: H. C. Andersens Boulevard. 12, 1553 København
Best for: Scandinavian art fans
The popular citizenM hotel model has arrived in the Danish capital, and the result is one of the newest and one of the coolest hotels in Copenhagen.
This property offers boutique-style accommodation with extra large beds, sweeping city views and original artworks throughout which I think definitely adds to the feel of the place.
Amenities here include a work zone with iMacs, a bar, a 24-hour cafe, rainfall showers and in-room tablets.
The hotel is slap-bang in the centre of town at City Hall Square and is just five minutes’ walk from Vesterport Train Station.
11. Aparthotel Charlottehaven
Address: Hjørringgade 12C, 2100 København
Best for: Self-catering and space
I’d really recommend Charlottehaven as an appealing alternative to the all-suite hotel model.
Here you can book into one or two bedroom apartments overlooking Øresund Strait. Nordhavn metro station is also only a three minute walk away.
Accommodation in the apartments comes with facilities like fully equipped kitchens, private balconies, and spacious living and dining areas.
There are smart hardwood floors throughout and some rooms offer spectacular views over the water. And believe me, the views are epic!
Charlottehaven also offers a kids’ playground, a cafe, gardens, an indoor pool and a gym so I think this is a great option for people with children.
12. 71 Nyhavn Hotel
Address: Nyhavn 71, 1051 København
Best for: A Nyhavn location
You cannot get any closer to the water – nor to Nyhavn – than at 71 Nyhavn Hotel. As the name suggests, it’s set right by the water.
The brick-built structure was once an early 19th century warehouse.
I love that local artworks and exposed wooden beams add style within the property and some accommodation offers views over the harbour.
The range of room types includes deluxe split-level suites with additional living space.
This pet and family friendly hotel is comfortable, packed with character and very centrally located. Perfect for discovering all the best things to do in Copenhagen.
13. Villa Copenhagen
Address: Copenhagen Central Post Building, Tietgensgade 35-39, 1704 København
Best for: A dramatic atrium
If you’re wondering where to stay in Copenhagen and appreciate a casual, home-from-home vibe, then I think this might be the right property for you.
Villa Copenhagen is set in an imposing early 20th century office building just three minutes’ walk from the tourist-favourite Tivoli Gardens.
The hotel offers attentive service 24/7 and has a gym, bar, garden and restaurant.
There’s also a pool and parking on site, and services offered include a snack bar and currency exchange. The dramatic central atrium also makes this a very light, airy and photogenic property.
14. Copenhagen Admiral Hotel
Address: Toldbodgade 24-28, 1253 København
Best for: Cycling around Copenhagen
Copenhagen Admiral Hotel is also set in an old warehouse by the water: this one dates from the 18th century. It’s convenient for both Nyhavn and the Amalienborg royal palace.
I adore the Scandinavian style here, with unique touches like exposed brickwork and wooden beams.
Some of the larger suites offer dual-level living, and accommodation may offer harbour or city views.
The Admiral Hotel has a bar, restaurant, spa and outdoor terrace, and also offers a bike rental service to guests for exploring the city on two wheels.
15. Hotel Skt. Annæ
Address: Sankt Annæ Pl. 18, 1250 København
Best for: Coastal cuisine and cocktails
Hotel Skt. Annæ is one of the luxury hotels in Copenhagen that’s located within a historic building. It’s also in a central position, yet offers a peaceful ambience to its guests, which I love.
With the exception of singles, most rooms here are spacious enough to accommodate three, four or more guests.
Heading up the selection is a penthouse suite, plus a one bedroom apartment with separate lounge.
The Shrimp and The Club here offer coastal-style cuisine and cocktails respectively. A gym, car park and central location make this a convenient as well as a very pleasant place to stay.
16. Hotel Ottilia
Address: Bryggernes Plads 7, 1778 København
Best for: Industrial style
If slick, industrial chic is more your style, then I’d suggest staying at the comfortable and cutting-edge Hotel Ottilia. This unique property can be found in the Carlsberg district.
A key feature of this hotel is the range of fabulous social spaces on site. A complimentary wine hour takes place daily (that’s where you’ll find me!) and there are various bars, lounges and restaurants to discover.
For a truly indulgent pampering session, I recommend taking a trip to the tempting AIRE Ancient Baths, which are located right next door to this luxury hotel.
17. Coco Hotel
Address: Vesterbrogade 41, 1620 København
Best for: An award-winning stay
Coco Hotel is situated in Vesterbro and is thus close to everything in central Copenhagen. The blue and white striped awnings out front alert you to the presence of this smart cafe, bar and hotel.
There’s a lovely outdoor courtyard here and many rooms overlook this. A good mix of singles, doubles and triples provides accommodation for parties of various sizes.
Having won a ‘World’s Best’ award, I can assure you that Coco Hotel is a luxurious place to stay. Plus, I love that it offers some unique facilities like a ping-pong room and lobby bar.
18. Copenhagen Strand
Address: Havnegade 37, 1058 København
Best for: A coastal feel
Copenhagen Strand Hotel is so-called due to its enviable location close to the city’s Havnepromenade. Some accommodation here offers a private balcony (which I’d definitely recommend!) or a soothing view over the water.
Strøget and Nyhavn can be accessed on foot in just a few minutes from here and the building was once a 19th century warehouse.
Rooms are fresh, bright and coastal in style, and the hotel has a bar, 24-hour reception and guest lounge.

19. Hotel SP34
Address: Sankt Peders Stræde 34, 1453 København
Best for: Latin Quarter location
This hip hotel is set in the Latin Quarter of Copenhagen and also offers a free wine hour each day (always a winner for me!).
The range of accommodation here includes larger city-view suites and all rooms have a complimentary minibar, flatscreen TV and coffee machine.
Town Hall Square is just 100 metres from Hotel SP34 and there are around 120 rooms.
The hotel’s impressive list of facilities includes several restaurants, a live events programme, a gym and a rooftop terrace.
20. Scandic Kødbyen
Address: Skelbækgade 3A, 1717 København
Best for: A hip vibe
With an eclectic look, a laid-back vibe and a hip neighbourhood location, I consider Scandic Kødbyen to be one of the coolest hotels in the city.
It’s close to local eateries, shops, bars and markets – which is why I think the location is somewhat under-appreciated.
Rooms range from standard and superior twins and Kings to a junior suite.
All are sleek and modern in style, with blonde wood flooring, and offer plenty of space. Some also offer a furnished seating area.
The restaurant here offers a well-stocked wine bar and open charcoal grill. Both steaks and wines are specialities, and there’s also the casual Coffee Box cafe for relaxed meals, drinks and snacks.
The Danish capital really knows how to do high-end hotels with effortlessly stylish interiors and world-class hospitality.
