Even if you’re not a travel blogger, being able to take beautiful pictures of your travels is important to a lot of people. From cameras and lenses to gimbals and tripods, discover and shop the best travel camera gear. In this section, I’ve marked the equipment I use and have also included some recommendations from friends and fellow travel bloggers. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a new laptop, check out my recommendations for the best travel laptops.
There’s no doubt that smartphones are now able to take incredible photos. I use my iPhone 13 Pro a lot for capturing content on my travels, especially for video content (cinematic mode kills!). But for truly stunning photos, you cannot beat a mirrorless or DSLR camera.
Depending on the style of photography you prefer, having a selection of lenses for your needs will really up your photography game. Currently I use the 28-70mm lens which came with my Sony camera, as well as a wide angle lens which is great for cityscapes, architecture and interiors. I also have my eye on a 35mm prime lens but lenses aren’t cheap, so I’m working my way up to it!
I have always been a fan of GoPro and I’ve owned a few different models throughout the years. Sadly one still remains lost on Mount Kilimanjaro somewhere – but that’s a story for another time! The GoPro brand is almost synonymous with action cameras, but there are some truly brilliant rival brands to consider too.
I adore drone photography. It offers a perspective like no other and flying the drone feels like an adventure in itself. If you’re thinking about getting a drone but aren’t sure – just go for it. I felt the same but I’m so glad I took the plunge.
Tripods are key for stabilisation and getting a beautifully crisp shot. They are also a must for any solo travellers like myself, if you want to appear in your own photos.
Buying a gimbal for my iPhone has been essential in upping my Reels game on Instagram. I do not have the steadiest hands, but with a gimbal I now have buttery smooth footage that looks professional. I also have a gimbal for my camera which is a lot more technical – although the FeiyuTech gimbal is great, you pretty much need a Masters degree to balance it!
These are some of the camera accessories that make my life a lot easier when it comes to iPhone photos and videos. My iPhone camera still isn’t great in low light and the flash can sometimes be too intense. So the LED light has been a game changer for shooting in places like restaurants and bars. The Bluetooth remote is essential for any solo travellers wanting to take travel photos with you in the shot.
A good, sturdy suitcase can make packing and travelling a lot easier. Here are my recommendations for the best suitcase brands, as well as some stylish holdalls which are perfect for a weekend trip.
Here are some of my favourite carry-on essentials for a more enjoyable plane journey. From getting a good sleep to ensuring your phone has enough power to last a long haul flight.
I love my skincare routine and I used to think that travelling meant I had to make do with lower quality products or whatever was available at the hotel. Especially with the liquid allowance when travelling with carry-on luggage only.
But there are plenty of wonderful travel-size toiletries and sets available nowadays. Here are some of my favourite beauty and skincare recommendations for travel.
