The Chedi Muscat hotel review: a luxury stay in Oman’s capital

The Long Pool

On a recent trip to Oman, I had the chance to spend three glorious nights at the five-star Chedi Muscat Hotel.

Located in the beautiful city of Muscat, The Chedi offers the perfect blend of friendly Omani hospitality and luxurious facilities.

This enchanting hotel is set against the backdrop of the Al Hajar Mountains on one side, and the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Oman on the other.

The result is breathtaking views in all directions, plus an ambiance of total tranquillity.

The Chedi comprises 21 acres of impeccably landscaped gardens that lead to a pristine private beach. It really feels like a true oasis.

Plus, with an award-winning health centre, the hotel provides guests with an exclusive retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Here I share my honest review of The Chedi Muscat and whether I’d recommend a stay.

Design & architecture

Designed with symmetry and elegance in mind, The Chedi Muscat brings together the architectural charm of the Middle East with minimalist design.

The hotel’s architecture features clean lines, natural materials, and an abundance of natural light, ensuring it blends seamlessly with the surroundings.

The Chedi Architecture

Contrasts of black and white popped beautifully against the lush green backdrop of palm trees and blue skies.

The sound of trickling water can be heard throughout the grounds; it really feels as though every detail has been designed to make you feel at ease. Total zen is the name of the game here.

Come sunset, the vibrant pink and orange hues are reflected in the pools and water features to a jaw-dropping effect.

If, like me, you love an aesthetically pleasing hotel then you will love the symmetry of the design. It is extremely satisfying and impossibly elegant.

The Chedi Muscat Lobby

Inside, the interiors comprise elements of Omani culture, from traditional lanterns to art pieces.

I loved the sense of place and authenticity that these small touches added to the guest experience.

Rooms & suites

The Chedi Muscat has 158 rooms and suites that offer absolute comfort and luxury.

I stayed in one of the Chedi Club Suites, which was incredibly spacious. The bed was wonderfully comfortable (I slept like a baby every night!) and I loved the luxurious sunken bath.

The rooms’ decor continued the theme of understated elegance and attention to detail that can be found throughout the hotel.

Outside I had a terrace which looked out over the manicured gardens with water features and the beach in the distance. Sitting out here with a cup of tea was utter bliss!

Dining at The Chedi Muscat

There are several restaurants to choose from at The Chedi and I’d definitely recommend trying them all if you can!

From the chandelier-clad main restaurant to the exquisite beachfront restaurant offering fresh seafood, each setting is beautifully unique.

On our first night we dined at The Long Pool Cabana, where the specialities were deliciously fresh sushi and sashimi. All while gazing out at the longest pool in the Middle East.

Our second night was enjoyed at The Chedi Pool Cabana. Here we tucked into a more informal tapas menu with the calming sounds of the waves right next to us.

For our final night, we ate at The Beach Restaurant where fresh seafood was the focus.

No matter the restaurant, each dining experience emphasised fresh, high quality ingredients that combined the flavours of Oman with international cuisine.

Spa & wellness

For those after relaxation and rejuvenation, I know you’re going to love The Chedi Muscat’s spa and wellness centre.

A sanctuary of peace and tranquillity, the spa offers a wide range of holistic treatments and therapies. It’s also the largest spa in Muscat so you know you’re in for a treat!

Whether it’s a massage, facial, body treatment, or a spot of yoga and meditation, the aim is to help you restore balance and harmony.

I enjoyed a 60-minute Reviving Cupping Therapy for Jetlag and Fluid Retention, which was just what I needed after a seven hour flight. I left feeling totally refreshed and rebalanced – if not a little sore in places!

There is also a well-equipped gym for those who like to keep active, and you can benefit from a personal consultation with a certified trainer and Health Club Manager.

Final words

The Chedi Muscat is a truly spectacular hotel that offers a compelling combination of relaxation, luxury, and natural beauty.

While I suspect that you may not want to leave the calm of the hotel, it provides an ideal base for exploring the historical landmarks, vibrant souqs, and natural wonders of Muscat.

Whether it’s the warmth of the Omani hospitality, the gorgeous design, or the fantastic service, The Chedi Muscat promises an unforgettable experience.

I’d wholeheartedly recommend a stay here, and I’d return in a heartbeat.
