Best for: Michelin-star dining

Gilpin Sunset – Luxury Hotels in the Lake District

For a luxurious stay in the Lake District with exceptional hospitality and Michelin-star dining, I highly recommend booking into the Gilpin Hotel & Lake House.

Set on two separate estates, the hotels offers a relaxing escape in the English countryside.

I stayed in the more secluded Lake House, which boasts its own private lake, 100 acres of private grounds, a spa area for treatments and an exceptional restaurant.

Plus with only six rooms, I find that the Lake House offers a wonderfully tranquil retreat.

Gilpin Lake

Gilpin Hotel houses 30 bedrooms, a spa space and two restaurants, and the rooms at Gilpin Hotel are spacious and beautifully decorated.

Each has all the amenities you might need and 22 have hot tubs. Some even have their own private ensuite spa for the ultimate luxurious experience – I mean, what more could you want?

One of my favourite highlights of Gilpin is the food. At the Gilpin Hotel, you can find mouth-watering cuisine at the Michelin-starred SOURCE at Gilpin Hotel restaurant and pan-Asian dishes at Gilpin Spice.

Gilpin Spice

Serving delicious meals made with locally sourced ingredients, these restaurants offer the best of the best. I had the most unforgettable meals here.

The Knipe Grill is at Gilpin Lake House, but I really appreciate that guests can dine at any of the restaurants thanks to the complimentary evening chauffeur service.

Note that Knipe Grill at Gilpin Lake House is a seasonal restaurant and is closed during the winter months.

Set within 17 acres of landscaped gardens and woodlands, Storrs Hall offers a tranquil haven and is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in the Lake District.

Personally, I’d highly recommend staying in one of the Lakeside Suites. These stunning rooms have chic, spacious interiors and an unforgettable lakeside setting.

There are two dining options at Storrs Hall: the main Restaurant and the more informal Tower Bar.

Find pub classics and family friendly dining at the latter, and exceptional cuisine with local flavours at the former.

For those looking for a more active stay in the Lake District, Storrs Hall has plenty to offer.

Take a stroll around the hotel’s 17-acre estate, play a game of croquet on the lawn, or take to the water with a range of water sports available on the lake.
