7 Luxury Treehouse Retreats

7 Luxury Treehouse Retreats

Although I certainly wouldn’t say no to a nice hotel with pool and the usual facilities, admittedly I have always preferred to opt for something a little more quirky. I adore holiday accommodation that offers an adventure or a story. With this in mind, it doesn’t get much better than luxury treehouse retreats for a touch of magic, authenticity and childhood nostalgia.

If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life then you can’t do much better than retreating up a tree, probably in the middle of a forest. I love the remote feeling associated with the treehouse holiday (although I don’t hate people that much, promise!).

To inspire you with your very own quirky break, I’ve compiled my favourite treehouse retreats from all over the world.

1. Tree Hotel – Harads, Sweden

The Tree Hotel offers a selection of the most impressive contemporary treehouses you will ever see. But then you wouldn’t expect anything less of those stylish Scandinavians.

The mind-bending mirrored treehouse and the bird’s nest blend effortlessly into the natural environment in the most unique ways. The UFO and The Blue Cone stand out blatantly, almost as if they were a statement of art.

2. Eagles View Suite – Iso Syöte, Finland

Another Scandinavian retreat for you now – after all, they do the picturesque postcard look so well! The Eagles View Suite is part of the Iso Syöte hotel in Finland and has been specially built to establish an intimate connection with nature. The walls and roof of the suite are made entirely of glass, offering unrivalled views and the perfect spot for star-gazing.

3. Aroma(n)tica Treehouse –  Moferrato, Italy

Next, an adorable wooden cabin suspended amongst the fragrances of the linden trees and other aromatic herbs. This treehouse offers stunning panoramic views of the picturesque hills and is situated in an area that produces top quality wines.

5. Chewton Glen – Hampshire, UK

As you may remember from a previous post – although it was a long time ago so I’ll forgive you if not – mum and I enjoyed a wonderful spa day at Chewton Glen. They have the most stunning facilities with food and treatments that are to die for.

Unfortunately we weren’t lucky enough to stay in one of their stunning treehouse suites but if I were going again, this is what I’d be doing (um, let’s just not think about the price right now).

The emphasis with these treehouse retreats is the real affinity with nature; natural materials and floor to ceiling glass providing panoramic forest views. Situated among the trees of a secluded valley, the suites are the perfect way to unwind and relax after a long and trying day at the spa (ahem). Book online at ChewtonGlen.com.

6. Tongabezi – Victoria Falls, Zambia

Set amongst the branches of a riverine Ebony tree, this impressive treehouse boasts stunning views of the Zambezi River. Also offering luxurious interiors, this treehouse is the epitome of Zambian beauty and majesty.

7. Secluded Intown Treehouse – Atlanta, US

You may recognise this little gem as it’s been featured all over the place, including George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces. With fairy lights and a real magical charm, this wonderfully cute little treehouse is shabby chic in style and looks as though it has been lifted straight out the pages of a children’s book.

After all these treehouse retreats, I now have a serious case of wanderlust and I bet you do too. Sorry! To check out another quirky retreat that I stayed in last year, have a read of my Wild West Getaway post.

Wow, this looks like my dream holiday! I love them all, if I had to choose though I think I would have to say number three, Aroma(n)tica Treehouse – Moferrato, Italy, and number seven, Secluded Intown Treehouse – Atlanta, US, would be the highest on my bucket list!
